Whiskers: Scratch 2.0 for Incompatible Devices
Hi everyone! I'm NoMod-Programming, the developer of Whiskers. Whiskers is a scratch modification that plans to be a full rewrite of the current 2.0 version in Squeak, the software Scratch 1.x was made in. This way, OSes that don't support Flash, like the one the Raspberry Pi uses, or poeple who don't want to use a language nearing end-of-life can use the 2.0 version. The github link is here: https://github.com/NoMod-Programming/Whiskers/
Information and Installation instructions are available at: https://infinitytec.github.io/Whiskers-Website/
The latest version is 0.9a6 (Download a .image file from here)

Note: You can't have “Scratch” in the name of a Scratch Mod.
Note 2: If you don't give money to Imageshack, the image can expire. Once it does, it turns into an ad for RainApp.

Those are some old screenshots. I changed it Note: You can't have “Scratch” in the name of a Scratch Mod.about a week ago :P, around the same time I tried (and failed) to implement custom blocks. Also, thanks, I'll use cubeupload instead

I have a couple ten suggestions to make it look just like Scratch 2.0, but really 1.4 under the hood:
1. Try changing the font to the Scratch 2.0 one.
2. Add a thin border to the stage on the sprite menu.
3. Use all the 2.0 buttons rather than the 1.4 ones.
4. Add the help button from 2.0 to the top bar.
5. Make the backpack like the 2.0 one.
6. Make fullscreen truly fullscreen.
7. Add a white cursor if possible.
8. Make the Help section like in 2.0 rather than dialogs.
9. Remove the blue text shadow in dialogs.
10. Make the topbar text smaller.

2. O_o oh. Now I get itDone
3. I'm halfway through the interface changes
4. same as above
5. I'll try. I haven't used the online 2.0 in a while, so I forgot how it looks
6. I only did that for the screenshots (once its released, you press shift while opening presentation mode to get windowed fullscreen mode).
7. I did. That's just my default windows cursor (reminds me of scratch 1.4) nvm. Tested on my mac. Doesnt work
8. I'm about halfway through. I'm stuck at what happens if you have a small screen
9. I will. I didn't even know they got rid of that :] Done
10.I'm trying to get the 2.0 fonts imported to squeak. If I try to make the current font any smaller, though, you can't read it :(Done, well sort of

Yeah, that's one of the tough things with Squeak.. it's graphics screen is really low definition.a couple ten suggestions to make it look just like Scratch 2.0, but really 1.4 under the hood:1. I don't know how to implement the 2.0 font yet. I'm finding out how, though I have

Also no vector grahpics. You might be able to have the sound editor, but that could lag quite a bit. Yeah, that's one of the tough things with Squeak.. it's graphics screen is really low definition.

Theres an internal sound editor, which I could reskin and add to the sounds pane. Also no vector grahpics. You might be able to have the sound editor, but that could lag quite a bit. Yeah, that's one of the tough things with Squeak.. it's graphics screen is really low definition.
I fiund a squeak svg file that may make it possible to IMPORT vector graphics and make SMALL modifications to it, but I havent tested it.

Hey, you may be able to incorporate vector graphics via this: http://astares.blogspot.com/2009/08/openvg-vector-graphics-for-squeak-and.html
Just a thought. Also: http://forum.world.st/ANN-Squeak-OpenVG-bingings-td1304171.html
and http://www.squeaksource.com/OpenVG/
I was working on a Python Scratch compatible editor, and I was going to use this, but your project sounds better.

I think the name for this project will be SCARTCH. If someone can give me a better name, please do so. You can see the logo in the youtube video in the OP.

http://astares.blogspot.com/2009/08/openvg-vector-graphics-for-squeak-and.htmlThis looks interesting… But i wonder if it works on Mac and Windows too. If not, i might need to recompile it and distribute new vms for those who want it. But that sounds interesting Hey, you may be able to incorporate vector graphics via this:

The source has win32 and cross folders, and it has a makefile that targets both win32 and linux platforms. So yes you'll need to re-compile, but you should be able to do so relatively easily.

OK… I'll take a look at that. Also, am I allowed to use the name Scartch??? (notice the third and fourth letters are rearranged) instead of Scratch The source has win32 and cross folders, and it has a makefile that targets both win32 and linux platforms. So yes you'll need to re-compile, but you should be able to do so relatively easily.

Hmm. I think something different would work better. Maybe a synonym like score, itch or scrape? Or maybe something else cat related, like whiskers? Oooh I like whiskers.OK… I'll take a look at that.
