Message Before Sharing Projects (33 Support, 2 Semi-Support, 1 No Support)

I have an idea. It seems like SO MANY PEOPLE don't understand that restricting remixing is not allowed. Maybe when you click “Share” on your project, there should be a message that says something like, “Are you sure you'd like to share your project? By sharing this project, you are freely giving the community to remix and change your work with credit.” And then there would be an option to share it and continue, or an option to not share it.

Obviously, this wouldn't completely eliminate the problem. But think about it. Let's say there's a user named icecream_99 (there's not actually a user by this username ). Icecream_99 hates remixing. Icecream_99 doesn't want anybody to remix any of his stuff. Icecream_99 also believes firmly that permission is required to remix a project, and that it is very rude if you don't respect the creator's wishes for you to not remix. Obviously, Icecream_99 is wrong. If Icecream_99 were to share a project and someone were to remix it today, then Icecream_99 would get very angry with the user who remixed it, even though that user didn't actually do anything wrong. This shouldn't be happening on Scratch, yet it happens all the time. It's not fair that users are getting reprimanded for doing something that Scratch encourages you to do: remixing.

Now let's say that my suggestion is put into place. Icecream_99 creates a project, and clicks Share. Icecream_99 then reads that he's not allowed to restrict remixing, and that sharing his project gives the community complete permission to remix it no matter what he says. Now, Icecream_99 might rethink sharing that project. But whether he shares or doesn't share the project isn't the most important thing. The most important thing is that Icecream_99 understands the actual rules about remixing. Maybe he does share the project. At least now he won't yell at anybody for doing nothing wrong. There might still be users that restrict remixing, but now somebody can firmly and truly state that when they shared their project, they gave the community permission to remix. If this suggestion were to be put in place, I really think that all the buzz about remixing and not remixing, and all the fights and arguments, would die down, sort of like the arguments about AEs died down after the Scratch Team made a couple small changes.

The extra click would also prevent people from accidentally sharing projects, although this isn't as big a problem as the remixing situation.

What do you guys think?

I support this! When I was really new, I had a project (I still have it now). It had a bad quality thumbnail, though. I accidentally shared it, realized that the thumbnail was terrible, unshared it and made a better thumbnail. It would have been good to have gotten the message.

Support. I'm tired of people claiming that recolors are against the rules.

I support some message confirming a share, but it sounds a bit like it's discouraging you to share projects. My suggestion is that you're told at account creation that projects you make are shared under the CC licence and others can use it and yeah… maybe?

Support, would be good for people that don't understand that recolors aren't against the rules, and that restricing remixes is.
