2/21/13: Updates to Paint Editor and Website
Paint Editor:
* Now you can edit paths that are within groups (like the Scratch cat without ungrouping it)
* The clear button is no longer disabled when you first open the scratch cat.
* Miscellaneous bug fixes
Website:
* Gzip compression on outgoing pages.
* A fix for the “don't use English if the browser supports any other language” glitch.

Thanks Lightnin, I'm happy to see ongoing development of the vector-based drawing tools. Scalable graphics are what have me most excited about the possibilities of 2.0!

Nice, I have a suggestion that would really help the paint editor. When I try to use the paint editor and I select the rectangle painting tool, when I'm done creating the rectangle… It switches my tool to the mouse, this gets very annoying when I try to make something with multiple different shapes and such.

In general, there are a lot of instances with both the paint and script editors where you select something and perform an action, and then the interface resets itself so that your selection is now either cleared or back to the beginning and you have to go searching to find your place again. It makes the interface really cumbersome. You can't just go boom, boom, boom and get it done. I love so much about Scratch, but the usability issues definitely inhibit being productive. I know this is just a beta, so hopefully these types of things will be corrected before go live.

As failord says in his project, couldn't we have a pixel art layer (for retro games, minecraft, etc.) as well as a vector layer? Nice job! I feel like I'm the only one who likes the new paint editor. I'm much better at it than the 1.4 pixel editor!

I also like it! I planned over a year ago to make a story game, but i need many costumes for the people in it and with the old editor it was to much work. Now i can easy edit costumes. The only thing i miss now are Fonts and more colors. A filltool, which can fill mixed colors could also be cool, like in 1.4.

Sounds like a plan!

I say make an extended wide screen so you can make a 360 screen to make easier possibilities for 3d games instead of going through scripts to make multiple backgrounds. I am making one of these and this would really help. Thank you for listening!

This would be overcomplicated if it was implemented in my opinion. This meant to be easy enough to be used by children after all.
