at the risk of sounding like a fool, I'm having problems with filling in color. in most cases, once i have my fill tone selected, i need only a create a shape and it's colored with a another colored line around it. however, I'm having issues filling in color on shapes i create with the pencil tool. I can close the shape and then highlight it, but as soon as i switch to the paint bucket, it suddenly doesn't see shape as a fill area.
this isn't happening every single time, but enough that i must use the solid shapes instead of one i can create with the pencil. I hope I've explained this clearly enough. I'm more used to the 1.4 version and i would like to try keep up with the features I use the most. Let me know what you think

just as a follow up to what i was talking about before, you can see where I'm stuck in my project “untitled-2.”…also, how do you change the names of projects?

I think that being able to switch editors in the 2.0 editor would help
Maybe that you could have the 2.0 editor, then switch to the 1.4 editor if you miss the good old editor
Still with 2.0's new features, but with the ability of 1.4 and the old school look
Basically like this:
(click on the link the img tags didn't work)

Pretty cool, eh?

Scratch 2.0 Paint Editor
While I love the new vector editor, there is one thing that I preferred about the bitmap editor: The ability to do pixels. In the vector editor, there is no way to create a simple, reliable ‘unit’ pixel. Just a click with the smallest pencil size produces a circular or elliptical dot, rather than a square pixel. Maybe a way to change between ‘sharp’ and ‘rounded’ brushes would be in order? Just a suggestion.
EDIT: Okay, after playing around with the paint editor a bit more, I've come to the following conclusion:
As far as aesthetic design (Game graphics, animations, etc.) is concerned, the new editor is fantastic. As far as more scientific projects (AI bots, physics engines, etc.) are concerned, the new editor is horrible. Shapes are very hard to precisely scale, position, or draw. Maybe some kind of ‘grid mode’ would be in order, that would let you switch between the current vector editor and something a bit more like the old bitmap editor. This would let you make very precisely shaped and sized graphics which could be more suited to some types of projects.

Some confusing tools are the fill tool and the pencil tool. The fill tool doesn't fill some things, and the pencil line changes as it goes.
How do you get around that?

The fill tool only works on objects, not arbitrary fills; I'm not sure what you mean by the pencil line changing, but you can try to edit the line position by going into node mode. I have a tutorial about the 2.0 Editor that goes more into details about this here, if it helps.

Maybe if we could switch between bitmap and vector paint editing…
I still want my option to use the arrow keys to move paint tools one pixel/unit at a time (might be an issue with vector graphic stuff). I hate using the mouse when I'm trying to center my costumes especially, the arrows keys would make it a billion times easier

Hahah, was just looking for this post in order to post a link to the recent announcement about a change in strategy for the paint editor, and found this last post.

Anyway - sounds like a plan~!

I'm going to close this thread for now - please place comments about the new design in the announcements thread linked above!
