How do I edit a project once it has been shared?
I remember doing it before, but I can't figure it out what I did last time.
If I click on the “see inside” option, I could play around with the costumes and scripts, but any changes are not saved. I'm probably going about this the wrong way, but I can't seem to figure out what the right way should be.

Up at the top, next to your username, it will say “save needed”. Click that, and it'll save (and hence update).
I really like this manner. Great idea, ST!

So what you are reporting is not a good thing, but the fact that you are sharing something that confuses you *is*.
If you are logged in, then any change you make to the project should be saved. Maybe you weren't logged in while editing?

LightninAh, I figured it out. Apparently it autosaves, but if I exit before it autosaves, then it doesn't save at all. What I couldn't figure out was how to save the changes.

scimonsterSo that's where the save function is! I kept looking in the left part of the menu bar because that's where I thought it would be.

LS97No I just couldn't figure out how to save changes I made to a project I shared recently. It drove me nuts, so I thought I'd ask here.
Cheddar, is this what confuses you, or is it an actual bug?

If a published project needs a bunch of changes, you should probably unshare it, make the changes, and republish.
This is so that if people view the project while you are making changes it might not work for them (depending on what the changes are).
I'm still not convinced that this is the best way to go.

BoltBaitWell, the changes I was trying to do were in regards to the paint editor. It wasn't such a big deal in my case if the edits were ongoing and public since it's only an aesthetic change to the viewer.

But regarding major project changes, that's an issue, I think LS97 posted a topic relating to that earlier in this thread.

On a side note, I noticed costume edits don't seem to trigger a save state. I have to drag a block in the scripts to do that.

Better file that one.

Bump.
Now I'm having problems with saving changes in general.

Uh oh - is it throwing any errors? Any clues as to what's causing them, like perhaps a shaky internet connection?

No idea. I force-save the project, and it says “saved” , but when I go back to the project, the changes I made are not there.

If it helps, it's my second newest project on my profile, I've been trying to save sometime past 19:00, but none of my changes stuck, not even the script changes.

Hmm. If you use chrome, can you hit f12 to view the console, and see if any errors are showing up while you are working on the project? FF and other browser have ways to get to the console as well.

LightninOh, wow, that's weird, I went back to check on it today, and now it reflects the changes. I wonder if it's a cache issue.

Thanks for describing what happened, cheddargirl. It does seem like there's a cache issue that johnm is now going to work on. It helped that your description matched what he just experienced too.

Thanks for these reports and all your careful observations about autosaving.
I had the same experience earlier this evening. My changes seemed to disappear after I'd saved the project and then refreshed the project page. But eight minutes later, when I tried again, my changes were there. I'm pretty sure this is a caching issue, just you suspected. However, it's not clear where the old project is being cached, in the server or in your browser. If this happens again, you might try immediately flushing your browser cache and refreshing the page. If that makes your changes appear, it's probably being cached in the browser, which would be helpful to know. (But simply knowing that this is a caching issue should be enough for us to track it down. Thanks!)
This is definitely an oversight. Will fix.
I find myself paying attention to the save status message in the top bar and sometimes clicking on it to force a save when I have something I want to be sure gets saved.
