Uploading projects made in Scratch 1.x on the 2.0 website
Hey guys,
I am aware that you go to File > Import from local drive in order to import an already created project. However, my main question is the uploading procedure that follows this process. If I'm not mistaken, once it is imported from your computer, the project does not get shared publicly immediately.
Thus, the moment I import the file I have, after a while, the project loads and I can edit the scripting et cetera. During this process though, there is a constant message on the top right-hand corner which reads saving…, and this never stops. I'm not too sure is it's because the file is over 18MB, but I was told that there's no limit on this new website. When I interrupt the saving process (which never ends) and revisit the “My Stuff” page, there is only one empty project in the trash.
Anyone know how to salvage this problem?

To answer your first question: uploading a project from your local computer into a new (unshared) project does not automatically share the project. You can edit scripts and test it, then share the project when you're ready.
There's currently no limit to the project size in Scratch 2.0. However, this is a very large project, and encoding and uploading it's 409 media assets simply takes a really long time. On my computer, over a DSL line, it took 3.5 minutes, which felt like forever. The only feedback that it's actually doing anything is the text “saving…” in the editor nav bar. If you give up and close that page before the upload completes, you'll get either either an empty project or perhaps one with a lot of missing graphics and sounds.
There should be better feedback during uploading. I've added that to the “To Do” list.
I uploaded this project and shared it as a test. You can see it here:

johnmThanks for the quick reply, Mr. Maloney. It works fine now and the project is privately shared now.

Unfortunately I've encountered another problem… Although successfully shared, my project does not work fully online on the Flash player. Is this a problem with the player (because the project works in the Scratch 1.4 application)?
I'll be grateful for a quick reply!

DIYCan anyone from the Scratch Team please view this project and salvage the problem? It's called Quiet and is the only project that's unshared by me.

Hi DIY, Can you say more about what the problems are?
If you access the project and play through it, you'll notice it stops after a certain point (namely an elevator scene with the text “AHHH!”). This is certainly not the end of the project, as there's more to it if you play in Scratch 1.4. Is there a reason for this?

I'm not entirely sure what's going wrong, though I do know that timing in Scratch 2.0 isn't the same as timing in Scratch 1.4, so that might be the cause of your problems. Anyway, I'll stop by tomorrow and look.Sure! Alright, thanks for the reply. However, I have not shared this project publicly, so only the admins can view the project. Unfortunately, other Scratchers are unable to check it out and salvage the problem, as this game is not yet fit for release due to this 2.0 online glitch.I'm not entirely sure what's going wrong, though I do know that timing in Scratch 2.0 isn't the same as timing in Scratch 1.4, so that might be the cause of your problems. Good plan! If you can isolate the issue in the smallest number of scripts / sprites possible, it will help us fix it!
