Hey. There aren't many tips for a successful answer and mostly, people's questions don't get answered. So I made these tips.

Ask Your question
(If you already have a question, I recommend you skip this step.) Before you ask the question, you have to think of the question, is it sensible, is it grammatical? Do not make it too sophisticated or no one is (likely) to answer it. You find questions by your daily scratch progress. For example, maybe scratch is down, you ask on the forums why.


Bumping your topic
So..you want to know about bump eh? For all scratchers out there who don't know why people reply bump and what bump does,
Read this! Bump is popular for bumping the topic back to the top of the list of topic and making more people reply to your thread.
Don't bump too much, just 1-2 a day, or people will think you are spamming.

How to search for questions
You may have a question to ask on the forum, but it may have already been answered! So why should you repost it?
So, you will find a search button on the discuss page. Search the question you have. If it is there, your question may have been answered!
If it isn't you will have to do the post. Your answer might lie in the FAQ or the
Scratch Wiki

How to get a good subject line
If you are going to make a question, you have to make sure you have a good subject line, something specific, interesting, then more people will answer! So the way you get a good subject line is by
-Specific question
-Not TOO sophisticated
-Interesting
-Not too long
Say I had a question about how you change your profile picture, I wouldn't put as the subject line title ‘ i have a bad profile pic. help how to change’
I would say ‘ How do I change my profile picture?’

How to make a new topic in the forums
If you would like to ask a question in this forum, you will have to make a new topic! In case people do not know how you make a new one(If you do know how, skip this)I will give some instructions to you!
1- Go on to the ‘questions about scratch’ forums in the discuss page.

2-In the top right corner, you will see a ‘New Topic’ Button. Click it.

3-Put the title and what you need below the title and you are done!

I don't think you should try to do that, the sratchTeam is in charge of this topic and I think it is okay how it is

There are many tutorials made by people, and the best ones are stickied.

I don't think this guide is of much use to the majority of Scratchers. There is already a similar guide, as well.

There doesn't always have to be 1 tutorial .

It's great that you want to help out here! I've got a couple of thoughts you might want to consider:

1. Maybe give instructions for how to search the forums for answers to questions - many of the questions that are asked have been asked before.
   
2. Suggest other areas where the answers might lie - such as the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section or the Scratch Wiki
   
3. Give tips on a good subject line for the question topic
   
4. Perhaps some instruction on how to make a new topic in the forums?

My thoughts on this:

• What do you mean by “sophisticated?” The more detail you give about a question, the better people will be able to answer it, so I'm not exactly what you're going for here. For example,

  is not specific or helpful, but:
  

  I can't seem to figure out why the Car sprite isn't responding to player input when “Begin Race” is broadcast in my “Mini Racer v0.2” project <link>
  

  Now, these don't necessarily correspond to this forum (my example questions would better fit in Help with Scripts) but I don't really understand. Do you mean not asking for help on more advanced (or “sophisticated”) topics like the Scratch API?
  
  
• It normally isn't required to bump a topic more than once per day unless it gets to the second page of the forum.
  
  
• The Scratch search bar doesn't always work for finding duplicates - another good method is to go to Google and type “site:scratch.mit.edu/discuss <topic>”
  
  
• Again, with the subject lines, I don't see what you mean by “sophisticated” - can you give me an example of a subject line that is too sophisticated? It also doesn't necessarily have to be interesting - nobody is going to help you if you make a subject line that is interesting but doesn't actually relate to your question. The best bet is to just go with a summary of your question (exactly like your example, in fact) because it lets people gauge if they have the right knowledge to answer your question without needing to actually go to the topic.
  
  
• I think the third step of your creating a topic tutorial could be slightly more specific
  
  For example,
  

  Write a helpful title (as described above) into the box labeled “title” and then write the specific details of your question in the box below.
  

You could also add links to other helpful formatting guides and things at the bottom so newer users will be able to format their posts correctly.
