Scratch 2.0 Offline Editor (Beta) is now available!
Linux is coming soon. Installed fine on Windows 7 and ran some of my applications I developed on the CCOW course in June/July. So far so good.
BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM!!
Before Scratch 2.0, I used Scratch 1.4 on the Raspberry PI as part of my STEM workshops for 8-10 year olds introducing them to the joys of computing. The machines all operate standalone. I was hoping that the offline version of Scratch 2.0 (and all the great new features) would be able to run on this great device but alas the dependency on Adobe Air means that it can't work as there is very limited support on Linux machines from Adobe. It looks as if only Windows and Macs are supported - what about Linux?
And the Pi is AWESOME!

Bug reports:
* Shrinking the window should automatically switch to small stage mode like 1.4
* Icon looks crunched

* Elements in the tips bar are not centered vertically (the word “tips” and the “x” are too low)
* Clicking the Scratch logo should give a window saying “Would you like to go to the Scratch website? y/n” to prevent inadvertently opening a browser and lag etc
* Window needs a minimum width and height

I can't seem to import music, it gets to “compressing mp3” and then nothing happens, and I've been waiting 10 minutes and it still hasn't done anything. that's a lot longer than what the same song took to be compressed online- so it must be the offline editor.

May be a bug with “loudness” block in the “sensing” category ?
Just click on the check box of the “loudness” block and immediately the offline editor crashes.
Windows 7 professional, 4GB Ram, Adobe AIR 3.8.0.870
I'have found the source of the problem: with the ONline scratch 2.0, when doing what is explained above, I get an “adobe” security pop-up asking for permission to turn on the microphone. So I guess when the OFFline editor try to start the microphone it is not sufficiently tuned to deal with the security pop-up.
Can somebody help for finding the solution for the OFFline editor ?
Thanks

We're about to post a new version that fixes the MP3 version. And can work for some versions of Linux – in a few minutes…

An updated version of the editor is now available! You will need to delete your previous beta version, and install the Scratch.air application again. See the discussion on the updated beta offline editor!
